Food for Thought

I have been asked this question numerous times as a soldier and a christian on how I feel about the war on terrorism. While browsing the net I came across this article and found it very interesting. It comes from Jack Van Impe Ministries, Question of the Week section......

Question: "I have a question about this war in Iraq. My dad was watching a preacher on TV and he said that this war in Iraq is predicted in Jeremiah chapter 50. I read

this and it does sound like it could be the war mentioned. Do you think that it is?"

Dr. Van Impe's response :

"Dr. Logsdon who was the minister of the great Moody Memorial Church in Chicago was one of the first to have a sermon out on this subject, and I became very interested in it. And I found that in Isaiah chapter 18; Jeremiah chapters 50 & 51 and Revelation chapter 18 talking about Mystery Babylon that this was undoubtedly the United States of America.

Why? In chapter 50 first of all she’s a nation of mingled people and there are only two like that in the world, Russia and the United States of America. Secondly, she’s a nation who is in existence in the Latter Days as a world power and she’s only a little over 200 years old. Thirdly, she’s a nation when Israel is in her land and a nation that’s come into fruition in these last days as I already said, and its here.

She’s a nation that’s built upon many waters and that’s the United States of America, it isn’t Babylon over in Iraq because that’s a dry desert area. There are many reasons and I hope that helps you."
